Class: Gastropoda Cuvier, 1797
Subclass: Heterobranchia J.E. Gray, 1840
Infraclass: Opisthobranchia Milne-Edwards, 1848
Order: Acochlidiacea Odhner, 1937

Family: Microhedylidae  Odhner, 1937

They are exclusively found in interstitial spaces in sediment and show a tendency toward reduction of complexity in major organ systems.

According to the taxonomy by Bouchet & Rocroi (2005), the family Microhedylidae has been listed as a synonym of Parhedylidae. Ganitidae Rankin, 1979 was listed as a single family within Hedylopsoidea. The type genus of Livorniellidae was Livorniella Rankin, 1979.

According to Schrödl & Neusser (2010) the family Microhedylidae is within the clade Microhedylacea. Parhedylidae is a synonym of Microhedylidae. Microhedylidae s.l. may informally include Ganitidae, but this inclusion requires further research and higher statistical support.
