Es coneixen una mica m\u00e9s de 800 esp\u00e8cies a tot el m\u00f3n. Fa un temps es van realitzar estudis filogen\u00e8tics que van demostrar que els cefalasp\u00eddeus cl\u00e0ssics (sensu lato) no eren un grup monofil\u00e8tic, per la qual cosa van dividir-lo en tres: els <strong>Cephalaspidea <em>sensu stricto<\/em><\/strong>, els <strong>Runcinida<\/strong> (antics Runcinacea) i els <strong>Heterobranquis [no assignats]<\/strong> (antics Architectibranchia). Dins d&#8217;aquest \u00faltim grup, segons aquests estudis, fam\u00edlies com Acteonidae, Aplustridae i Ringiculidae ja no es consideren realment opistobranquis, grup dins del qual s&#8217;havien considerat fins feia molt poc, tot i que s\u00ed es classifiquen com a Heterobranquis.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size:10pt;\" class=\"aligncenter\"><div id=\"featured-img-id\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/opistobranquis.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/philinopsis-miqueli-101.jpg?w=900&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Melanochlamys miqueli by Enric Madrenas\" \/><\/div><center><em>Melanochlamys miqueli <\/em> per Enric Madrenas<\/center><\/span><p><\/p><\/p>\n<p>Els cefalasp\u00eddeus en sentit ampli (<em>sensu lato<\/em>) s\u00f3n els opistobranquis t\u00edpicament testacis ja que moltes de les seves esp\u00e8cies tenen una conquilla. Les esp\u00e8cies de <em>Scaphander<\/em> i <em>Haminoea<\/em>, tenen una conquilla externa, ben calcificada, per\u00f2 que est\u00e0 poc espiralitzada i l&#8217;animal no pot retreure&#8217;s completament dins d&#8217;ella. La conquilla pot estar molt poc calcificada i ser interna a l&#8217;haver quedat completament coberta pel mantell, com passa en la fam\u00edlia Philinidae. El cap dels cefalasp\u00eddeus t\u00e9 un disc o escut cef\u00e0lic (Cephalaspidea = Cap amb escut) que facilita l&#8217;enterrament de l&#8217;animal en el substrat tou, h\u00e0bitat habitual dels representants d&#8217;aquest grup. Precisament per aix\u00f2 el cap no sol disposar de tentacles o altres expansions sensorials. La cavitat palial sol estar ben desenvolupada i pot estar situada anteriorment o b\u00e9 en posici\u00f3 posterior. Dins d&#8217;ella es troba una br\u00e0nquia de tipus plegat. En el tub digestiu hi han unes plaques endurides que serveixen per triturar l&#8217;aliment i la r\u00e0dula pot faltar en algunes esp\u00e8cies. En l&#8217;aparell reproductor, l&#8217;orifici genital est\u00e0 situat a certa dist\u00e0ncia de l&#8217;\u00f2rgan copulador mascul\u00ed per la qual cosa existeix entre ells un solc seminal ciliat per on discorre l&#8217;esperma que s&#8217;emet a la c\u00f2pula, com passa tamb\u00e9 en els Aplysiida. El peu \u00e9s de tipus reptant i difer\u00e8ncia, en algunes esp\u00e8cies, un parell de l\u00f2buls laterals o parapodials, com passa en <em>Gastropteron rubrum<\/em>, que es pleguen sobre la conquilla en estat de rep\u00f2s i poden ser utilitzats tamb\u00e9 per a la nataci\u00f3.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Biologia<\/strong><br \/>\nEls cefalasp\u00eddeus generalment s\u00f3n habitants de substrats tous, on viuen enterrats a diversos cent\u00edmetres de profunditat a la recerca d&#8217;aliment. Algunes esp\u00e8cies habiten en fons de fang o pedres que s\u00f3n caladors d&#8217;arrossegament de vaixells de pesca i per aix\u00f2 solen apar\u00e8ixer entre les restes dels descarts no comercials de la pesca, com passa amb <em>Scaphander lignarius<\/em>, que pot arribar a 80 mm de longitud i que s&#8217;alimenta de foramin\u00edfers, poliquets, gaster\u00f2podes i petits bivalves. En fons similars viuen <em>Philine quadripartita<\/em> i <em>Ph. Catena<\/em>, que s&#8217;alimenten de poliquets, foramin\u00edfers i bivalves. Les esp\u00e8cies de <em>Retusa<\/em> i <em>Cylichna<\/em> viuen en fons de sorra i fang o praderies de <em>Posidonia oceanica<\/em> alimentant-se de foramin\u00edfers i petits gaster\u00f2podes. Les esp\u00e8cies del g\u00e8nere <em>Haminoea<\/em> i <em>Bulla<\/em> s\u00f3n herb\u00edvores i viuen en fons fangosos de l&#8217;interior de ports o fons de petites badies amb faner\u00f2games marines, alimentant-se d&#8217;algues verdes, brunes i vermelles i faner\u00f2games com <em>Cymodocea nodosa<\/em>, a m\u00e9s de cianobacteris i diatomees. Les esp\u00e8cies dels g\u00e8neres <em>Navanax<\/em>, <em>Philinopsis<\/em>, <em>Aglaja<\/em> i altres (fam\u00edlia Aglajidae) s\u00f3n depredadors molt actius de turbelaris, nemertins, poliquets i fins i tot de nudibranquis i altres cefalasp\u00eddeus. En diferents esp\u00e8cies de cefalasp\u00eddeus s&#8217;han trobat metab\u00f2lits secundaris implicats en la defensa qu\u00edmica de l&#8217;animal i tamb\u00e9 d&#8217;altres que funcionen com feromones d&#8217;alarma per a la comunicaci\u00f3 entre els diferents exemplars, com passa en les esp\u00e8cies de <em>Haminoea<\/em>. Els cefalasp\u00eddeus s\u00f3n hermafrodites simultanis i despr\u00e9s de la c\u00f2pula efectuen postes en forma de cinta o cord\u00f3 amb nombrosos ous que dipositen sobre la sorra.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Distribuci\u00f3<\/strong><br \/>\nEls Cefalasp\u00eddeus viuen en tot tipus de substrats tous, des de la zona intermareal fins fons circalitorals. Nombroses esp\u00e8cies habiten aig\u00fces c\u00e0lides i temperades dels dos hemisferis i fins i tot es coneixen algunes que prefereixen les aig\u00fces fredes polars, com ara <em>Philine alata<\/em>, d&#8217;aig\u00fces ant\u00e0rtiques. <em>Scaphander<\/em> t\u00e9 una vintena d&#8217;esp\u00e8cies que es distribueixen pels fons tous de certa profunditat de tots els mars del m\u00f3n, des de l&#8217;\u00c0rtic fins a les aig\u00fces ant\u00e0rtiques. A la Pen\u00ednsula Ib\u00e8rica, Balears i Can\u00e0ries s&#8217;han citat una mica m\u00e9s d&#8217;un centenar d&#8217;esp\u00e8cies de Cefalasp\u00eddeus, que corresponen al 90% de totes les esp\u00e8cies presents en aig\u00fces europees segons el ERMS (European Register of Marine Species). Una trentena d&#8217;aquestes esp\u00e8cies s&#8217;han observat en aig\u00fces catalanes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Classificaci\u00f3<br \/>\n<\/strong>La taxonomia actual dels Cephalaspidea, proposada per Bouchet et al.
