Sea slugs<\/strong> are among the most fascinating and diverse groups of marine molluscs. Despite their delicate appearance and often spectacular colours, they possess remarkable adaptations that allow them to feed on highly specialised prey, defend themselves against predators and inhabit a wide variety of environments. Their extraordinary diversity of forms, structures and life strategies offers an exceptional opportunity to understand how evolution has produced a wide range of solutions to the challenges of marine life.<\/p>\n

Studying sea slugs allows us to discover the extent to which anatomy, colouration, sensory organs and respiratory mechanisms are related to their way of life. It also helps us understand their feeding strategies, complex reproductive processes and the importance of morphological characteristics in identifying species and reconstructing their evolutionary relationships. In addition, there is considerable interest in understanding their geographical distribution, detecting the arrival of non-native species and recognising which species are most common in each region.<\/p>\n
