Acochlidiimorpha

Se trata de un pequeño grupo de Heterobranquios que comprende unas 30 especies en todo el mundo y que viven en el medio intersticial marino o de agua dulce. Están muy poco estudiados, son de muy pequeño tamaño y tienen una morfología corporal algo aberrante para tratarse de moluscos y que está adaptada para vivir y desplazarse entre las partículas de sedimento.

Tienen un cuerpo alargado, sin concha en estado adulto y un manto que suele disponer de numerosas espículas. No tienen ni cavidad paleal ni branquias y la cabeza dispone de tentáculos orales y rinóforos. Generalmente los sexos son separados. Posiblemente se alimentan de microorganismos que viven en el medio intersticial.

Considerados tradicionalmente como un grupo peculiar de Opistobranquios, los trabajos recientes de Jorger et al. (2010) y de Schrödl et al. (2011) tienden a acercarlos a los gasterópodos Pulmonados, dentro del clado de los Panpulmonata.

Hasta el momento no hay ninguna cita de Acochlidiacea para las costas catalanas, lo cual está relacionado con la ausencia de estudios en el medio intersticial dirigidos hacia este grupo.
