Los nudibranquios se caracterizan por la ausencia de concha en el estado adulto y por una gran diversidad de estructuras externas especializadas relacionadas con la respiraci\u00f3n, la alimentaci\u00f3n, la defensa y las funciones sensoriales.<\/p>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span class=\"text-token-text-primary cursor-text rounded-sm\" data-placeholder-token=\"true\"><span style=\"font-size:10pt;\" class=\"aligncenter\"><div id=\"featured-img-id\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/opistobranquis.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/hypselodoris-tricolor-29.jpg?w=900&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Felimare tricolor by Enric Madrenas\" \/><\/div><center><em>Felimare tricolor<\/em> por Enric Madrenas<\/center><\/span><p><\/p><\/span><\/h5>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">La historia taxon\u00f3mica de los nudibranquios (Nudibranchia Cuvier, 1817) ilustra la transici\u00f3n desde clasificaciones basadas principalmente en la morfolog\u00eda y la anatom\u00eda hacia enfoques filogen\u00e9ticos que incorporan evidencias anat\u00f3micas, moleculares y del desarrollo. Tradicionalmente, los nudibranquios se inclu\u00edan entre los \u00abopistobranquios\u00bb, una agrupaci\u00f3n informal de gaster\u00f3podos marinos caracterizada por la frecuente reducci\u00f3n o p\u00e9rdida de la concha y por diversas estructuras respiratorias especializadas. Este concepto tradicional persisti\u00f3 durante buena parte del siglo XX, cuando los estudios anat\u00f3micos comparativos demostraron progresivamente la complejidad de las relaciones entre los grupos incluidos en Opisthobranchia y cuestionaron su consideraci\u00f3n como un grupo evolutivo natural.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">W\u00e4gele y Willan (2000), a partir de un amplio an\u00e1lisis de caracteres morfol\u00f3gicos y anat\u00f3micos, proporcionaron un marco filogen\u00e9tico influyente para Nudibranchia. Su clasificaci\u00f3n reconoc\u00eda dos grandes divisiones, Anthobranchia, correspondiente en t\u00e9rminos generales a los nudibranquios dorid\u00e1ceos, y Cladobranchia, que comprend\u00eda los grupos tradicionalmente reconocidos como ae\u00f3lidos, armin\u00e1ceos y dendronot\u00e1ceos. Este marco influy\u00f3 posteriormente en diversas clasificaciones de los nudibranquios y de los gaster\u00f3podos heterobranquios.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">El desarrollo de los m\u00e9todos moleculares y transcript\u00f3micos durante el siglo XXI proporcion\u00f3 nuevas evidencias sobre las relaciones entre los diferentes linajes de nudibranquios y condujo a numerosos cambios en su clasificaci\u00f3n. Los estudios moleculares demostraron que algunas agrupaciones tradicionales no se correspond\u00edan con linajes evolutivos y aportaron evidencias de relaciones que no siempre pod\u00edan inferirse \u00fanicamente a partir de la morfolog\u00eda externa. En consecuencia, la clasificaci\u00f3n de Nudibranchia ha continuado revis\u00e1ndose a medida que se han incorporado nuevas evidencias filogen\u00e9ticas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Korshunova <em>et al.<\/em> (2025) propusieron una importante reorganizaci\u00f3n de la clasificaci\u00f3n superior de los nudibranquios. En su tratamiento, el nombre Nudibranchia se restring\u00eda al linaje correspondiente esencialmente a Cladobranchia, mientras que los nudibranquios dorid\u00e1ceos eran separados y reconocidos como el orden Doridida. Los autores tambi\u00e9n reorganizaron sustancialmente la clasificaci\u00f3n superior de los linajes cladobranquios y recuperaron varios sub\u00f3rdenes tradicionales.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Esta interpretaci\u00f3n fue posteriormente reconsiderada por Moles <em>et al.<\/em> (2026) en su an\u00e1lisis m\u00e1s amplio de la estabilidad taxon\u00f3mica de los heterobranquios marinos. Los autores argumentaron que las decisiones taxon\u00f3micas deben tener en cuenta no solo las relaciones filogen\u00e9ticas, sino tambi\u00e9n la capacidad diagn\u00f3stica y la estabilidad de los taxones, la continuidad de la nomenclatura establecida y las consecuencias de los cambios nomenclaturales de gran alcance. En el caso de los nudibranquios, apoyaron el mantenimiento del nombre establecido Nudibranchia en su sentido amplio, en lugar de restringirlo exclusivamente a Cladobranchia.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">El marco adoptado aqu\u00ed sigue, por tanto, el concepto amplio de Nudibranchia respaldado por Moles <em>et al.<\/em> (2026). Seg\u00fan esta interpretaci\u00f3n, el orden mantiene su \u00e1mbito tradicional e incluye Doridina y Cladobranchia como sus dos principales linajes evolutivos.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Los nudibranquios presentan una extraordinaria diversidad de formas corporales y estructuras especializadas. Los linajes de ae\u00f3lidos y otros cladobranquios poseen habitualmente cerata u otros ap\u00e9ndices dorsales, mientras que las formas dendronot\u00e1ceas y triton\u00edidas pueden desarrollar elaborados procesos ramificados o dendr\u00edticos. Los nudibranquios dorid\u00e1ceos presentan generalmente un cuerpo m\u00e1s compacto y una disposici\u00f3n posterior de las branquias secundarias. Estos diferentes planes corporales est\u00e1n asociados con diversas estrategias alimentarias, mecanismos defensivos, adaptaciones sensoriales y relaciones ecol\u00f3gicas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Nudibranchia ocupa una amplia variedad de ambientes marinos, desde h\u00e1bitats costeros someros e intermareales hasta regiones m\u00e1s profundas de la plataforma y el talud continental. Muchas especies est\u00e1n estrechamente asociadas con determinados organismos presa, entre ellos cnidarios, esponjas, briozoos y otros invertebrados s\u00e9siles. Estas asociaciones tr\u00f3ficas se reflejan con frecuencia en su morfolog\u00eda, comportamiento y estrategias defensivas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">La diversidad de los nudibranquios tambi\u00e9n se refleja en su clasificaci\u00f3n. Las relaciones entre varios de sus principales linajes han sido revisadas repetidamente a medida que se han acumulado nuevas evidencias anat\u00f3micas, del desarrollo y moleculares.
