Nota taxonómica: En cuanto a su coloración y morfología externa, sólo dos taxones atlánticos se asemejan a Goniodoridella miramaraeOkenia sp.1 del libro de Valdés et al. (2006: p.126) muestra un espécimen colectado en Flamingo Bay, Islas Vírgenes (Bahamas) que comparte el mismo número y distribución de papilas laterales y medio-dorsales. También Goniodoridella picoensis (Paz-Sedano, Ortigosa & Pola, 2017), descrita a partir de especímenes recolectados en la isla de Pico (Azores, Portugal) con el color de fondo del cuerpo blanco con las puntas de las laminillas, rinóforos y branquias de color amarillo o naranja claro, sin la mancha violácea detrás de las branquias de G.miramarae, y con las papilas laterales situadas a cada lado de la branquia, no tan grandes como las de G. miramarae y que no exceden la longitud de la cola cuando el animal se mueve. G. picoensis tiene rinóforos laminados mientras que G. miramarae tiene 3 laminillas en forma de copa en la mitad inferior y cinco tubérculos en la mitad superior. Aunque G.miramarae fue citada en Taliarte, Gran Canaria, Islas Canarias, basándose dos fotografías (Moro et al., 2016: p.21, pl.7), al no disponer de especímenes recolectados (que sospechamos que pertenecen a G. picoensis), entendemos que son necesarios más estudios moleculares y morfológicos de los animales de Canarias para esclarecer este asunto.
Las fotos que adjuntamos a esta ficha, aunque estan clasificadas como G.miramarae por su autor, son presuntamente G. picoensis por los rinóforos lamelados, no tuberculados.

Descripción
Especie con el cuerpo de color blanco opaco, translúcido en la periferia. Todos los procesos corporales, los rinóforos y las branquias tienen los extremos de color amarillo o naranja intenso. En la parte anterior del cuerpo hay un velo cefálico con cuatro apéndices, dos situados en la parte frontal, y dos flanqueando los rinóforos por la parte exterior. A los costados del cuerpo hay dos o tres apéndices, los delanteros similares a los de la cabeza, y los dos que flanquean la branquia muy largos. Delante de la branquia hay un apéndice de longitud similar a los delanteros, dispuesto verticamente sobre el cuerpo. Los rinóforos son relativamente largos y tienen 3 laminillas en forma de copa en la mitad inferior y cinco tubérculos en la mitad superior. La branquia está formada por cuatro hojas unipinnadas que salen de tres pedúnculos, puesto que las dos hojas interiores están soldadas en la base y lo comparten. Cada hoja branquial dispone de 5-6 laminillas espaciadas, que no llegan hasta el ápice. Detrás de la branquia se observa una mancha de color rosa-violáceo.

Biología
Aunque se desconoce su alimentación, se puede suponer que esta especie se alimenta de pequeños briozoos al igual que las otras especies de Goniodoridella. La puesta consiste en una masa de huevos blancos pequeños, dispuestos sobre el substrato. Los largos apéndices que flanquean la branquia son muy característicos de esta especie, y cuando el animal está en movimiento se estiran y superan el extremo de la cola. En general todo el cuerpo del animal y los apéndices se estilizan cuando repta y se contraen cuando está en reposo.

Etimología

  • Miramarae, por la localidad tipo de la especie, el barrio de Miramar en La Habana, Cuba.

Distribución
Tras su descripción original en aguas de Cuba, solo se conocen tres citas más, todas ellas en Taliarte, Gran Canaria, Islas Canarias, donde parece que esta especie está bien asentada, pera diferencias morfológicas con la especie original nos hacen sospechar que se trata de Goniodoridella picoensis.
