Okenia sp.1 del llibre de Valdés et al. (2006: p.126) mostra un espècimen colectat a Flamingo Bay, Illes Verges (Bahames) que comparteix el mateix nombre i distribució de papil·les laterals i mig-dorsals. També
Goniodoridella picoensis (Paz-Sedano, Ortigosa & Pola, 2017), descrita a partir de espècimens recol·lectats a l’illa de Pico (Açores, Portugal) amb el color de fons de el cos blanc amb les puntes de les laminetes, rinòfors i brànquies de color groc o taronja clar, sense la taca rosa violàcia darrere de les brànquies de
G.miramarae, i amb les papil laterals situades a cada costat de la brànquia, no tan grans con les de
G. miramarae i que no excedeixen la longitud de la cua quan l’animal es mou.
G. picoensis té rinòfors laminats mentre que els de
G. miramarae tenen 3 laminetes en forma de copa en la meitat inferior i cinc tubercles en la meitat superior. Encara que
G.miramarae va ser citada a Taliarte, Gran Canària, Illes Canàries, basant-se dues fotografies (Moro et al., 2016: p.21, pl.7), en no disposar d’espècimens recol·lectats (que sospitem que pertanyen a
G. picoensis), entenem que calen més estudis anatòmics i moleculars de nous espècimens de Canàries per aclarir aquest assumpte.
Les fotos que adjunten aquesta fitxa, encara que estan classificades com a G.miramarae pel seu autor, son pressumptament G. picoensis pels rinòfors lamel·lats, no tuberculats.

Descripció
Espècie amb el cos de color blanc opac, translúcid a la perifèria. Tots els processos corporals, els rinòfors i les brànquies tenen els extrems de color groc o taronja intens. A la part anterior del cos hi ha un vel cefàlic amb quatre apèndixs, dos situats a la part frontal, i dos flanquejant els rinòfors per la part exterior. Als costats del cos hi ha dos o tres apèndixs, els davanters semblants als del cap, i els dos que flanquegen la brànquia molt llargs. Davant de la brànquia hi ha un apèndix de longitud similar als davanters, disposat verticalment sobre el cos. Els rinòfors són relativament llargs i tenen 3 laminetes en forma de copa en la meitat inferior i cinc tubercles en la meitat superior. La brànquia està formada per quatre fulles unipinnades que surten de tres peduncles, ja que les dues fulles interiors estan soldades a la base i el comparteixen. Cada full branquial disposa de 5-6 petites làmines espaiades, que no arriben fins a l’àpex. Darrere de la brànquia s’observa una taca de color rosa-violaci.
Biologia
Encara que es desconeix la seva alimentació, es pot suposar que aquesta espècie s’alimenta de petits briozous, a l’igual que les altres espècies de Goniodoridella. La posta consisteix en una massa de petits ous blancs, disposats sobre el substrat. Els llargs apèndixs que flanquegen la brànquia són molt característics d’aquesta espècie, i quan l’animal està en moviment s’estiren i superen l’extrem de la cua. En general tot el cos de l’animal i els apèndixs s’estilitzen quan es desplaça, i es contrauen quan està en repòs.
Etimologia
- Miramarae, per la localitat tipus de l’espècie, el barri de Miramar en La Habana, Cuba.
Distribució
Després de la seva descripció original en aigües de Cuba, només es coneixen tres cites més, totes elles a Taliarte, Gran Canària (Illes Canàries), on sembla que aquesta espècie està ben assentada, però diferències morfològiques amb la espècie original fan sospitar que es tracta de Goniodoridella picoensis.
