Descripción
Con un tamaño corporal registrado de unos 9mm, la coloración de esta especie se caracteriza por tener el dorso del cuerpo y la cola de color blanco, salpicados de manchitas de color amarillo intenso, en distribución irregular. Los flancos son de color negruzco con pequeñas zonas blancas (sin pigmentación). En la cabeza hay una mancha amarilla que se extiende por la base de los palpos; el resto de los palpos presenta una mancha negra hacia su zona media y el ápice blanco. Los apéndices del cuerpo situados en la parte exterior de los rinoforos y de la branquia son blancos con manchitas negras, más densas en los posteriores, que tienen un tamaño hasta tres veces superior que los anteriores. Los rinóforos están rematados por ocho laminillas, las tres inferiores completamente negras, las cuatro siguientes solo bordeadas de negro y la última, más el ápice, de color blanco. La branquia está formada por tres hojas gruesas, poco ramificadas y manchadas de negro y amarillo. El pie es blanco en la suela y negro en el dorso de sus expansiones anteriores.

Biología
El ejemplar que sirvió para describir la especie fué hallado a unos 3 metros de profundidad. Se supone que se alimenta de entoproctos, como las otras especies del género. Se desconocen otros detalles de su biología.

Etimología

• Trapania. El nombre genérico original de esta especie era Drepania, propuesto por Lafont en 1874. Pruvot-Fol en 1931 propone cambiar el nombre genérico a Trapania para desambiguarlo de Drepania Hübner, 1816 (un grupo de lepidópteros). Madame Pruvot-Fol no indica la procedencia del nombre, pero hay dos teorías: la primera seria dedicada a la ciudad de Trápani, capital de provincia de la Sicilia occidental; la segunda seria derivada del nombre genérico original Drepania, derivado del griego “Drepane” que significa «hoz» y presumiblemente se refiere a la forma de los apéndices situados a los lados de los rinóforos y branquias en este género. Pruvot Fol habría elegido el nuevo nombre en base a que tiene el mismo sentido, pero no el mismo sonido y evitar así confusiones.
• Luquei. En honor del Prof. Dr. Ángel Antonio Luque del Villar, malacólogo, profesor titular en la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid y que fuera el primer Secretario de la Sociedad Española de Malacologia.

Distribución
Esta especie únicamente ha sido citada en Cabo Verde (Ortea, 1989; Rolán, 2005). Erróneamente se había citado también en las Islas Canarias (Moro, Ortea & Bacallado, 1997; Ortea et al. 2001 y Moro et al. 2003), pero estas citas corresponden a Trapania bajamarensis, especie que también se ha encontrado en Cabo Verde.
