Descripción
Tiene un cuerpo alargado que puede llegar a 6 mm de longitud, coloreado con un veteado de color marrón-oliva a negro con las extremidades (tiene una cola corta y unos tentáculos de la cabeza) más pálidas. Puede tener el dorso ligeramente arrugado. La cabeza tiene un par de tentáculos en forma de dedos, característico de L. senestra y ausente en otras especies de Limapontia. Esos tentáculos pueden estar ausentes en los ejemplares de menor tamaño (menores de 2 mm). Las aberturas anal y renal se encuentran en la línea media del cuerpo, a aproximadamente dos tercios de la longitud del cuerpo desde la cabeza.

Biología
Se encuentra comúnmente alimentándose de algas filamentosas del género Cladophora y Acrosiphonia. Puede compartir hábitat con Limapontia capitata.

Etimología

• Limapontia, del Griego “limax”, babosa + “pontos”, del mar.
• Senestra, probablemente del Francés antiguo “senestre”, del latín “sinistra”, significa izquierda, perverso, raro, malo, adverso, hostil.

Distribución
Desde las Orcadas y Noruega hasta la costa Atlántica de Francia y norte de España. Ampliamente distribuida alrededor de la Gran Bretaña e Irlanda.
