Pleurobranchus reticulatus por Peter Wirtz

Nota taxonómica: El nombre Pleurobranchus garciagomezi  Cervera, Cattaneo y Edmunds, 1996 se aplicaba a los especímenes, endémicos de Cabo Verde, que coincidían con el patrón cromático del holotipo de esta especie. Pleurobranchus wirtzi  Ortea, Moro y Caballer, 2014, se describía para incluir al resto de muestras procedentes de otras islas de la Macaronesia, hasta ahora identificados en la literatura como P. garciagomezi. De todas formas, un trabajo posterior de Goodheart J. et al. (2015) reclasificó estas especies como Pleurobranchus reticulatus  Rang, 1832 manteniendo P.garciagomezi como un sinónimo dudoso, y P.wirtzi como un sinónimo probable.
