Descripción
Concha disciforme, de color pardo amarillento y con forma de lenteja, de unos 15 a 20 mm. de diámetro máximo. Superficie de la concha con 3 cordones granulosos dispuestos en espiral, y con estrías de crecimiento. Con ombligo muy profundo y destacado en la parte posterior. Estoma redondeado. La forma fósil se conoce como Solarium obtusum, pero no existen diferencias morfológicas con la forma actual.
Biología
Se alimenta de cnidarios, de los que se considera ectoparásito. Se considera raro.
Etimología
- Heliacus, forma latinizada del Griego hēliakos, «del Sol».
- Fallaciosus, del Latin «fallacia», «engaño, truco, artificio» y la terminación «-osus» que significa «relacionado con, que tiene que ver con».
Distribución
Se halla en fondos arenosos o pedregosos circalitorales del Atlántico y Mediterráneo.
