Nota taxonómica: Este nudibranquio aeólido pertenece a un género caracterizado por presentar cerata dispuestos en arcos y rinóforos con engrosamientos característicos. F. ghanensis destaca dentro del género por poseer un minúsculo estilete penial —inusual entre Favorinus—, junto con un patrón cromático y una morfología corporal constantes que lo diferencian de especies afines como F. branchialis y F. auritulus.

Descripción
Los ejemplares varían entre 1,5 mm y 16 mm de longitud. El cuerpo es esbelto y se estrecha gradualmente hasta una cola puntiaguda. Es translúcido, de un blanco grisáceo, con puntos blancos iridiscentes dispersos sobre el dorso, la cabeza, los tentáculos orales y la cola. Los tentáculos orales y las esquinas anteriores del pie comparten la misma coloración base. Los rinóforos son de color púrpura-marrón o granate, con una punta claramente moteada de blanco, y presentan tres pequeños engrosamientos o “bulbos”. Estos engrosamientos pueden resultar poco evidentes cuando el animal está completamente extendido. Los cerata son largos, de grosor uniforme, dispuestos en arcos en la parte anterior del corazón y en hileras en la  parte posterior. Sus paredes son translúcidas, lo que permite ver la glándula digestiva interna, de color crema a marrón con manchas púrpura-marrón, lo que da a los cerata un aspecto generalmente oscuro, de tono marrón púrpura. Las puntas de los cerata son de un blanco translúcido, a menudo con pequeñas glándulas blancas y puntos blancos iridiscentes dispersos. Los cerata se autotomizan muy fácilmente cuando el animal es molestado o manipulado. El ano es cleiopróctico y se encuentra dentro del segundo arco ceratal en el lado derecho, mientras que la abertura genital se halla anidada en el grupo ceratal anterior derecho.

Biología
Esta especie se encuentra principalmente en comunidades incrustantes (fouling), especialmente en cascos de barcos, artes de pesca y estructuras portuarias. Se alimenta predominantemente de los zoides del briozoo Amathia verticillata, lo cual representa una desviación respecto a la norma del género, que está más comúnmente asociado a masas de huevos de otras babosas marinas. El comportamiento alimentario incluye succionar el contenido de tubos rotos del briozoo, y el consumo ocasional de ciliados sésiles como Vorticella y Stentor. A pesar de carecer de cnidosacos visibles o descarga de nematocistos, F. ghanensis está provisto de glándulas epidérmicas defensivas en los cerata, y presenta autotomía como respuesta defensiva. Su pequeño tamaño y estilo de vida críptico podrían haber llevado a una subestimación de su presencia; sin embargo, su afinidad por sustratos artificiales y briozoos invasores sugiere un potencial de expansión relativamente alto debido al tráfico marítimo.

Distribución
Su rango de distribución conocido actualmente incluye zonas portuarias del Atlántico oriental y del Mediterráneo, a menudo en hábitats dominados por Amathia verticillata. Descrita originalmente en Ghana (puerto de Tema) en 1968, ha sido registrada posteriormente en las Islas Canarias (Gran Canaria, 1995), Túnez (Lago de Túnez, 2003) y en la costa atlántica de Marruecos (Agadir, 2012).
