Descripció
És una espècie de dendronotaci  que pot aconseguir els 10 mm de longitud. El cos és estret i la seva coloració general pot ser rosada o bé verda pàl·lid segons on es trobin l’animal.  Sol tenir en el dors taques blanques a causa de l’agrupació de petites puntuacions d’aquest color, l’extensió de les quals pot ser molt variable i fins i tot cobrir totalment el dors de l’animal. Les taques blanques també poden formar una línia gairebé contínua a cada costat del cos passant per la base dels apèndixs laterals. En el cap, el vel cefàlic té dos lòbuls posseint cadascun de 2 a 4 digitacions curtes i d’extrem arrodonit. El rinòfors posseeixen una beina alta en forma de trompeta amb la vora superior dentada o lobulada, podent-se trobar també taques blanques. L’extrem del rinòfor és del tipus maça i per sota s’aprecien algunes laminetes obliqües. També pot haver-hi pigment blanc en l’extrem del rinòfor. A banda i banda del cos s’aprecien 4 apèndixs laterals (anomenats per alguns autors cerata com en els nudibranquis eolidacis) de forma molt peculiar: auriculada o en forma de puny, oberts pel seu costat extern o inferior i amb diversos (fins a 7) curts apèndixs digitiformes. D’aquests 4 parells d’apèndixs laterals, només en el primer els apèndixs d’un i altre costat són simètrics, i en els altres parells l’apèndix situat a l’esquerre està una mica més avançat que el de la dreta. El peu és estret.

Biologia
Es tracta d’una espècie de variables tonalitats cromàtiques, la qual cosa podria correspondre a una adaptació per mimetitzar-se en els diferents substrats (algues vermelles, marrons) sobre els quals pot trobar-se per a la cerca d’aliment. Pel que sembla s’alimenta de hidrozous de l’espècie Clytia hemisphaerica, dels quals podria extreure els nematocists de la seva presa que segons certs autors es guarden en petites elevacions del dors, apèndixs laterals i beina rinofòrica, de manera semblant a com succeeix en els nudibranquis eolidacis. La posta és en forma de cordó ample fistonat, similar a les espècies de Doto, i amb ous blancs.

Etimologia

• Hancockia. Dedicada a Albany Hancock (1806-1873), company d’investigacions d’en Joshua Adler.
• Uncinata. Paraula d’origen llatí que significa “enganxat” o ganxut.

Distribució
És una espècie que es distribueix des de les costes del nord d’Irlanda, les illes Britàniques, costes franceses del Golf de Biscaia, la Península Ibèrica i el Mediterrani occidental. En la Península Ibèrica ha estat citada en totes les zones costaneres inclosa Portugal, també citada en les Balears i a Canàries. A Catalunya s’ha observat esporàdicament en diverses localitats de la Costa Brava com Tossa de Mar, L’Escala, l’Estartit o El Port de la Selva, entre d’altres.
