Aquesta espècie va ser descrita per Ortea i Moro dins del gènere Okenia. Tot i això, la revisió de la família Gonodorididae duta a terme per Paz-Sedano et al. (2024) utilitzant tant anàlisis morfològiques com moleculars va permetre comprovar que la riquesa d’espècies d’aquest grup a nivell mundial havia estat greument subestimada. Al mateix estudi van redescriure aquesta espècie com a Bermudella mica en base a un detallat estudi anatòmic intern que no es va proporcionar a la descripción original.
Descripció
Els animals adults no superen els 3 mm de llargada. De cos limaciforme i estilitzat, unes 6 vegades més llarg que ample, amb una estreta cresta transparent que envolta el notum on hi ha cinc papil·les de color blanc translúcid amb taques blanques opaques. La papil·la més petita, tacada de groc a la base, se situa davant de cada rinòfor; tres papil·les més llargues es disposen entre els rinòfors i la brànquia, i la cinquena, més llarga, se situa darrere de la brànquia. Dues grans papil·les apareixen al dors entre els rinòfors i la brànquia, sent major la situada sobre la prominència cardíaca, davant de la brànquia. No té un vel frontal. La coloració dorsal del cos és blanquinosa, amb taques vermelloses més o menys difuminades que formen una gran taca després dels rinòfors. Els laterals del cos tenen taques vermelles i blanques, més abundants cap a la cua. Rinòfors proporcionalment grans comparats amb la mida de l’animal, amb un mucró de color blanc i 4-5 lamel·les a la meitat distal, tacades de vermell i de mida semblant. La meitat inferior dels rinòfors és llisa amb taques vermelloses. El cap disposa de dos tentacles orals cilíndrics amb els extrems de color blanc. La brànquia és petita, formada per tres fulles del mateix color que el cos; la fulla central és bipinnada mentre que les laterals son unipinnades. El mantell disposa d´una estructura d´espícules relacionades amb les papil·les dorsals, la brànquia i la cresta paleal, mentre que els costats del cos no tenen espícules, excepte sota els ulls.
Biologia
La posta és un cordó de 0,5 mm de diàmetre plegat sobre si mateix amb ous blancs d’unes 80 μm de diàmetre. Els ous formen línies transversals de 5-6 ous, disposades en 2-3 capes a l’interior del cordó. Els exemplars utilitzats per a la descripció de l’espècie van ser recol·lectats d’un cap submergit a uns 2 metres de profunditat, i entre els briozous d’una paret submergida a uns 4 metres de profunditat.
Etimologia
- mica, del llatí mica-ae, engruna, partícula, en referència a la seva petita mida.
Distribució
Aquesta espècie només s’ha citat a les illes Canàries, a Tenerife (exemplars de la descripció original), Gran Canaria, Lanzarote i Fuerteventura.
