Architectonicoidea
Situats dins del grup informal Heterobranchia basals, els Architectonicoidea formen un grup de cargols marins, amb categoria de super-família, amb conquilles enrotllades en espiral, sovint ornamentades, que es categoritzen com a heterobranquis per heterostrofia, la morfologia dels espermatozous i del l’osfradi, així com per determinades característiques genètiques.
Heliacus fallaciosus @ Eivissa, Spain May, 2022 per Joan PereyraLa majoria son de mida molt petita, de costums bentòniques, que viuen sota pedres en el submareal, però també en microhàbitats especialitzats. La seva classificació filogenètica encara no estava resolta al 2018, però hi ha diversos estudis en curs.
L’ordre Architectonicida (equivalent a la Superfamilia Architectonicoidea sensu lato) comparteixen les caracteristiques esmentades de ser cargols bentònics amb la conquilla en espiral molt aplanada, que solen estar pigmentats de color marró i ornamentats. Disposen d’un morro i un peu ample i bifid, i un parell de tentacles amples i allargats al cap. El grup té 3 families a nivell mundial, totes presents en aigües europees.
