Descripció
La forma del cos és allargada, lleugerament més estreta a la part anterior que en la posterior, encara que pot variar depenent de si l’animal està quiet o en moviment. Els exemplars poden arribar fins a 3,5 mm de longitud. El cos és de color marró-fosc amb algun to vermellós i tot el dors està cobert per línies i taques irregulars de color negre que s’anastomosen. També es presenten una sèrie de puntuacions blanquinoses petites que s’agrupen en la part anterior de l’animal, als costats i en l’extrem posterior del dors, a l’igual que a la base de la cua. A banda i banda de la regió cefàlica l’animal presenta una zona sense pigmentació en la qual es poden observar fàcilment els ulls. A sota de la vora posterior dreta del dors sobresurten dues o tres petites fulles branquials, semitransparents però amb algunes fines taques negres. El peu presenta la mateixa coloració que el dors encara que no té línies negres i les taques no s’anastomosen. La cua presenta una àrea de color molt fosc en el centre, ben delimitada i amb els costats d’un to blanquinós i translúcid amb algunes taques fosques a la vora.

Biologia
No es coneixen dades de la biologia d’aquesta espècie. Les escasses cites de què es disposen indiquen que han aparegut en recol·lectar masses de diverses algues. Un exemplar recol·lectat a Cadaqués es desplaçava amb uns característics moviments d’elongació suau seguits d’una contracció forta del cos. A més, en moviment, la porció més posterior del dors (cresta paleal) es manté una mica elevada.

Etimologia

• Runcina. Del Llatí “runcina”, ribot de fuster, útil que es fa servir per allisar la superficie de la fusta.
• Brenkoae. En honor de Mirjana Hrs-Brenko (1935-) que va estar empleada a l’estació oceanogràfica de Rovinj (Croàcia) des del 1960, treballant en la taxonomia, ecologia i cultiu de bivalves.

Distribució
Aquesta espècie, descrita originàriament per Thompson el 1980 a l’Adriàtic, a les aigües de l’actual Croàcia, només s’ha recollit posteriorment a Banyuls-sur Mer (Costa Brava francesa) i a Catalunya (Cadaqués i Tossa de Mar).
