Nota taxonòmica: Aquesta espècie apareix a moltes pàgines web i a moltes publicacions com a P. cyanea, amb tot, donat que P. speciosa és un nom més antic, i a més és l’espècie tipus del gènere, preferims reemplaçar el nom P. cyanea per P. speciosa. També és l’aproximació que segueix WoRMS.

Biologia

Etimologia

• Philinopsis: significa similar a Philine, on Philine és un altre gènere de Cefalaspidis.
• Philine. Derivat de la paraula grega “philainoi”, nom de dos germans cartaginesos que van lluitar per la seva pàtria i van rebre honors de Déus.
• Speciosa. Del Llatí “speciose”, amb elegància, magníficament.
