Oxynooidea

Els Oxynooidea formen una superfamília de nudibranquis de mida petita i mitjana, amb conquilla externa, dins el superordre Sacoglossa. Hi ha quatre famílies d’espècies amb conquilla: Cylindrobullidae, Volvatellidae, Oxynoidae i Juliidae.

Els membres de les Juliidae també es coneixen com “gasteròpodes bivalves”, ja que les seves conquilles consten de dues peces o valves independents i articulades. Aquestes valves estan unides per un lligament, i no tenen l’aspecte d’un cargol normal; en canvi, les valves son gairebé iguals que les dues valves articulades d’una cloïssa, que és un mol·lusc bivalve. En el passat, els Juliidae només es coneixien a partir de conquilles fòssils, però es classificaven com un tipus de musclo, però no estan emparentats, sinó que és un cas d’evolució convergent.
