Taxonomic note: Species considered as fossil by WoRMS and CLEMAM, it is in the list of current species in Greece (Koukouras, 2010). The reports from the coasts of Maresme are the first for this species in the Spanish shores.Synonyms

Biology
Etymology
- Brocchii. In honor of Giovanni Battista Brocchi (1772-1826), Italian geologist and naturalist, who in 1802 was appointed as botany professor in the newly established high school in Brescia, Italy.
Distribution
Found in the Mediterranean only: as a fossil on the hill of Turin and in Tortona, Italy (Michelotti, 1847: 151 as Bulla Brocchii). In Greece it is reported as a current species (Koukouras, 2010). In Catalonia, LluÃs Dantart found two shells on the Maresme coast: in Mataró on 5/05/1989 on a sand bottom at 10 m and at Premià de Mar on 9/05/1989 on a sand bottom at 20 m (see Toll et Ballesteros, 2017).
