Classification according to Bouchet et al. (2017)
Taxonomic source: World Register of Marine Species (AphiaID: 420527).
Taxonomic note: Rudman, 2007 (in Sea Slug Forum) said “Chelidonura cubana description was based on three tiny animals about 3 mm long. (…) If the animals are juvenile then the colour pattern may be lacking elements found in fully grown individuals.(…) I would think that C. cubana, with the same colour elements as C. africana, is a synonym of that species”. However this species is actually considered valid in WoRMS. Also the last paper by Zamora-Silva et al (2017) considers this species as valid (at least in the Caribbean), so we also consider it as a valid species.
