Etymology

  • Scaphander. From Greek “skaphe”, boat, any excavated object + “andros”, man.
  • Punctostriatus. From Latin “Punctum”, small quantity, dot, score, stain, tip, small hole, perforation, sting + “striatus”, groove, channel, wrinkle.
